Borrow until it hurts

Jenny has been a registered nurse for more than 30 years and Andrew retired in 1996 following 21 years service in the Royal Australian Air Force. Both are now professional investors with shares, managed funds and eight investment properties across Australia. They built their fourth owner/occupied home as a two-contract house and land purchase, which they believe was more difficult than purchasing investment properties. This is their story.

Our first property was purchased in 1996 in Melbourne and was all we could afford at the time as Jenny was working part-time and Andrew was about to be discharged from the Royal Australian Air Force.

Property Millionaires

When Barry and Marilyn Atkins arrived in Perth from South Africa fifteen years ago, they did not believe that today they would own 13 properties valued at more than $4 million with a net value of over $1.5 million, after mortgages are taken into account. Barry and Marilyn are one of the 116 couples in Western Australia who are members of The Investors Club that, to date, have net equity in residential property worth more than $1 million. Becoming property millionaires will enable Barry and Marilyn to retire in a couple of year’s time with an annual tax-free income in excess of $100,000.

Barry says that he and Marilyn have always been interested in property investment and had bought properties in England and Spain with varying degrees of success but it was only in 1996, after meeting Kevin Young, Chairman of The Investors Club, that they became interested in property investment in Australia.

Dreams can come true!

Seven years ago my husband Greg and I came across The Investors Club. We had a grand sum of $2,000 in savings. After attending a worksh op we were sold on The Investors Club plan of building a property portfolio for wealth gain, independence and early retirement, so we were excited and keen to get started. Armed with the knowledge we received through the Club workshops and the huge amount of assistance from our Support Member and other like minded investors in the Club, we bought our first investment property and haven’t looked back. We know that investing in property can require a great deal of skill and time and Support Members can certainly take that burden off you.

We then became Support Members ourselves as we were eager for others to experience what we had done and wanted to show them there was an easier way to accumulate wealth by purchasing property through The Investors Club.
